Well, I went and done it! I fulfilled a promise to myself. There comes a time when you must modify a principal to maintain sanity. What am I getting to?
I am writing a novel that is not historical. Something I said I would never do. And I love working on this one.
Like Louis L’Amour, I harbour a deep profound love of western writing. And I cherish good quality western movies.
So, here goes, but first an explanation or the reason. Because it is there. It is there in the form of a screenplay written for a very good western. Kevin Costner starred in, and produced (Tig Productions), a movie titled, “Open Range”. Costarring Robert Duvall the movie screamed for a sequel at the end. So I wrote a sequel. When there was no interest I decided to turn the sequel into a novel. So there.
Let me backtrack. When I say it is not historical–that is not exactly true. As the outline began to gel consider me surprised when my research screamed for me to write in a smattering of historical content. Can’t seem to help myself.
